The Challenge

What is it?

This is a team event consisting of pairs either of male, female or mixed. Teams must complete the whole course together in order to qualify for one or more of the trophies.

SWIM - 1 mile from Gun Hill to the quay at Burnham Overy Staithe with the incoming tide.
KAYAK - 4 mile course through the creeks of Burnham Overy Staithe.
CYCLE - 45 mile circular route on North Norfolk’s most scenic roads.
RUN - 8 miles across tracks, sand, mud and marsh.

Timings (Please note, the timings below are rough estimates)

Friday 16th June 2017
15.00 - 18.00 Check in open. Please park in top car park opposite village hall. Check in is at the HQ marquee.
18.30 - Compulsory safety briefing followed by Competitors supper.

Saturday 17th June 2017
9.00 - HQ open. Park in top car park opposite village hall. Pick up timing chips from HQ marquee
10.00 / 10.30 Board boats / walk out
11.30 APPROX - start race from Gun Hill (tide and weather dependent)
12.30 High tide 19.30 Supper - Please make sure you have booked any tickets for friends and family (YOU have one in your race pack as part of your entry)
20.00 Prizegiving
21.00 Dancing

What's at stake?

There are 7 categories with winners, prizes and trophies, they are:

The Lord Nelson Trophy – 2 men
The Lady Hamilton Cup – 2 women
The Dame Edna Trophy – mixed team
The Local Heroes Award – 1st team home where both members live full time in Norfolk
Zimmer Winner – 1st team home with a combined age of over 100
Spirit of Superhero - decided by committee (possibly the most contested prize)
The Wensum - 1st team home consisting of two generations of the same family

1 MILE FROM GUN HILL TO THE QUAY AT BURNHAM OVERY STAITHE WITH THE INCOMING TIDE.

Kayak Route

4 MILE COURSE THROUGH THE CREEKS OF BURNHAM OVERY STAITHE.

Cycle Route

45 MILE CIRCULAR ROUTE ON NORTH NORFOLK'S MOST SCENIC ROADS. Click here to see the detailed route map
